American sparkling

We're not the tux and toast type. We're the pull up a chair and
stay a while type.

Since 1882

A classic at American get-togethers for decades.

Founded by three Czech brothers from Bohemia, Korbel planted its first Sonoma vineyards in the late 1870s and began production in 1882 — building what is now North America's oldest continually operating "champagne" house.
  • In 1954, third-generation winemaker Adolf Heck purchased Korbel and his son Gary absorbed every facet of the business before taking the helm in 1982. To this day, we’re still family-run.

  • Since we sent a case to President Roosevelt at the end of Prohibition, Korbel has been poured at moments that define American celebration. From Thanksgiving tables to wedding toasts, Korbel is an American institution.

For a good time, Korbel.

Méthode Champenoise

California champagne made
bottle by bottle.

For the entirety of Korbel’s 130+ year legacy, we’ve used the traditional méthode champenoise process, where the secondary fermentation takes place inside the exact bottle it’s poured from.
Using whole cluster pressed juice and proprietary yeast strains, our California champagne displays more fruit and less yeast than typical of European champagnes.
